Plimsolls were the first rubber sole shoes and were later to be known as sneakers. Sneakers have been around since the late 18th century. Why are they called Sneakers though? In 1917 they became known as sneakers because the rubber soul made them so quiet you could sneak up on someone whilst wearing a pair, sounds like a great way to scare your friends and family right?
