The number one Comic Con event takes place in San Diego and has been a popular event every summer since 1970. It’s known as the largest comic book and pop culture convention of its kind and is a 4 day event that takes place in the “sunny city” known as San Diego, in the Convention Centre.

Did you know that San Diego Comic Con was founded by a comic book artist and letterer Shel Dorf, comic book storeowner Richard Alf, and publisher Ken Kruegar. The first ever event they hosted was attended by 300 people and held in the basement of the U.S. Grant Hotel. However, in 2016 it was said that all 130,000 tickets were sold within the first 60 minutes of release. How crazy is this! Around 170 million dollars is made over this 4 day event, approximately 42.5 million dollars per day. What!?
San Diego Comic Con “SDCC” holds the world record for being the largest annual comic and pop culture festival in the world.

It’s a fun and enjoyable event but its more than just an event. This brings people together it’s a building filled with diversity, people come from all over the world with different backgrounds, stories, culture and more. But they all share this one passion; their love for comic books, pop culture and are proud to be a part of the “Comic Con junkies, the tastemakers of tomorrow”. It’s a bizarre world of wonders, a place where people can be their weird happy wonderful selves, a place of freedom and acceptance.
“If the world was a bit more like Comic Con we’d all be a little happier.”
Matt Smith
