“Some souls just understand each other upon meeting.”
Women’s Friendship is like having the sister you never had, the group of people that you create such a tight bond with that you forget they are not even family. Women all over show the power of friendship every day. This day is intended merely as a reminder of the contributions female friendships play in enhancing our health and emotional well-being at every stage of life.
Women’s Friendship Day was created of course by a woman, and for women everywhere of all race, culture and diverse backgrounds. This very special day was created by ‘The Kappa Delta Sorority’ in 1999 and is celebrated on the third Sunday of September. It was founded in 1897 in FarmVille, Virginia and has over 180,000 members. The support is real!!
“Everyone has a gift for something, even if it is the gift of being a good friend.”
The purpose of this day is to encourage women to recognise the value of female friendship, something that is often taken for granted. Promoting friendship between and among women has always been an important role in society.

How do we celebrate? There are many ways you can show appreciation and love to the women in your life, here are just a few ideas…
- Go for brunch or dinner with your female friends and have some giggles and bubbles as well as delicious food.
- Visit the important women in your life, maybe even give a bunch of flowers, chocolates or a cheeky bottle of wine.
- If any of your friends live far away, give them a call or send them a message of appreciation, the simplest of things can be the most cherishable.
- Snap a cute pic of you and friends, share it on social media with caption #womansfriendshipday!
“A friend may be waiting behind a stranger’s face.”
