Whether you are looking for new gadgets to add to your own set up, or looking to get something for the tech person in your life, here is a list of 10 items and gadgets that can help improve your workflow and well-being.
1. Monitor light bar
Staring at a screen for hours on end can put strain on your eyes, it’s important we take care of this issue so we can work/play longer without damaging our eyes. The best way to do this is by using a monitor light and bias lighting around our monitor to balance out light.
2. USB dock/hub
Having more cables than ports is incredibly annoying and having to constantly change them is even worse, but this can all be fixed with a USB hub; it only uses one port on your device and gives you 4 or more ports at the same time, whilst also keeping wires organised.
3. Desk matt/mouse pad
A desk matt is a great addition to your setup for personalisation and customisability, as well as functionality. They are easier to clean than your desktop; allowing for smoother mouse movement. It also stops things from scratching your work surface.
4. Spray cleaner and microfiber wipes
It’s always a good idea to keep our workspaces clean, and that includes our screens. It’s inevitable we’ll get fingerprints on them or other residue, so having a compact cleaning kit on hand is a great idea. It’s also good hygiene, as our workspaces can harbour a lot of bacteria.
5. External hard drive storage or Solid-State Drive (SSD)
For those of us that do a lot of work that requires large file sizes but don’t have much space on our computers, having an external storage device can save us a lot of headaches trying to find the right folder. This keeps us organised, whilst still having enough room on your computer for leisure activities. This is mostly prominent for laptop users.
6. Wireless phone charger
Wires can be annoying and get in the way. Sometimes you want to just put your phone down and forget about it for a while, and this is where the wireless charger will save you; you can easily put your phone down and it will charge, and you can quickly grab it and run to the door when needs be without messing around with wires. This works well for people who are constantly using their phones and need a good battery life at all times. Some wireless chargers are standing so you can view your phone and have it charge at the same time.
7. Heated mug & tray or larQ water bottle
A heated mug, as the name suggests, keeps your drink warm for as long as you need, so no more worries about your drink going cold. The LarQ bottle is designed to keep water fresh and bacteria free by using UVC light, no need to worry about weird bits floating in your water anymore or tasting funny.
8. Wowstick Electric Screwdriver
We all own many different gadgets, and from time to time they need a little TLC, but getting those tiny screws out can be a challenge. Thankfully a company has solved this for us with the Wowstick Electric Screwdriver. It looks like a pencil, is small and compact, but has lots of interchangeable screw heads and is electric meaning it does the hardest part for you.
9. Cable management
Seems obvious to some but keeping your cables organised and out of sight is important for not only aesthetics but also for future sorting, you might need to swap out a wire or component to your set-up, and having to unplug and untangle everything just isn’t very efficient. Keeping them organised and neat will only bring benefits and less hassle in the future.
10. Noise-cancelling mic adapter
As working from home is becoming more common, some of us run into the issue of not having a quiet home. This can be made more difficult when in a video call meeting, getting a noise-cancelling mic adapter can solve this issue easily.
